There’s still a little problem for desktop computer users to switch entirely to Linux operating system. One of the constraints it is no availability of the “Windows” game in Linux. Other constraints, there are several hardware vendors that do not support Linux and some programs that are considered important by the user can only run on MS Windows.

For you who have chosen Linux as a main operating system does not need to worry because the quantity and quality of games on Linux continue to rise. Some of the games available on Linux it also created similar to the proprietary game, for example, LinCity similar to SimCity, Flightgear similar to Flight Simulator, and some casino games like Poker, Blackjack, Video Poker, Craps, Roulette, Slots and many others.

“Windows” game is still very long-awaited for gamers in the world. “Windows” game means the computer game program made specifically for MS Windows operating system and is very popular, especially children and adolescents. Some “Windows” games are available free or paying on the Internet. Games that can be accessed with a personal computer and provided by the managers of a cybercafe or game center. Although most of the “Windows” game can be running on Linux through emulators, we see gamers not satisfied if the “Windows”game cannot be running on MS Windows. As an alternative you can also play online games through a web browser, lots of options ranging from action online game, RPG or even casino games, with an online casino you can get casino bonus from many online casino game providers.

Gamers really hope the maker of popular games currently provides a Linux version soon, although the game was not Open Source. Similarly, users of certain hardware like some kind of win-modem (internal modem), scanner and web-cam will feel comfortable moving to Linux if that hardware makers provide drivers for Linux products.

Hopefully, with more and more Linux users would encourage gaming and hardware vendors to release a product or a driver for Linux. We’ll wait.

Data cleansing or data scrubbing ensures that the stored data is delivered absolutely accurately. While the process of data cleansing is in operation, records are continuously checked to verify its accuracy and consistency. If necessary, the outdated and incorrect information can be deleted as well. This system operates within a single set of record or between multiple data sets requiring merging or which may be working in unison.

Data cleansing ought to be an essential process in any organization that keeps consumer data. It allows the highest data quality by de-duping, and suppressing and also appending key details which are personal too. The accuracy of a consumer data base will erode at a frightening rate. Data cleaning identifies movers, duplicating records and enhances personal details. In its simplest form, the software would be like a singular person or more than one person who reads the set of records to verify their accuracy.

The typing and spelling errors can be rectified while the data which is improperly filed, labeled, incomplete or even missing can be completed through this software package. Data cleansing can also be performed by computer programming. A more complex data cleansing program might also be able to fill in a missing city based on correct zip code or convert prices of items in the data base to Euros instead of US dollars. This software is ideally suited for developing an updated mailing list which can be sent to clients for promoting / selling various products. The process is very important for the efficient management of data dependent business.

In case the clients have not recorded the correct phone numbers or the client’s e-mail addresses have not been formatted accurately, the automated e-mail system is unable to send information on the latest special deals or coupons. The software based data cleansing ensures that all the data recorded within a system is up-to-date and accurate so that product details can be forwarded to the proper destination.

In areas where two data systems are working together, data cleansing is more effective. In case a manufacturing company has multiple branches, but may be dealing with the same customers, the data in each branch has to be complete, accurate and similar. When customers update their phone numbers within one branch, the data at the other branches need to have the same set of information ensuring that all the branches have identical data bank. In such cases the software based data cleansing also guarantee updated, accurate and consistent data between different records.

Often when storing a huge data base, errors are bound to creep into the system. The objective of data cleansing is to minimize or eliminate such errors and to make the data base appear as meaningful and useful as possible. In the business world the pivotal rule is that incorrect data base could be damaging and detrimental to the company’s commercial activities. Hence, data cleansing should be a mandatory operation of any business set-up to maximize profits and ensure their message gets out to the intended recipients.

In January 2005 Carlisle was hit by wild weather which plunged half the county into darkness and brought boats on to the city streets. Floods of up to 13 feet deep put Cumbria into headlines worldwide. It is no wonder that in the aftermath of such a disaster, the residents of Carlisle feared any warnings of flooding.

Determined not to be defeated by flooding again, Carlisle residents took measures to protect their homes and businesses, so that when heavy rain had caused flood warnings to be issued in October 2008, they could be ready.

One such Carlisle-based business, Malcolm Dodds Solicitors, took out a hosting policy with DPS Software in order to protect their IT infrastructure in the face of such disasters.

Hosting is the process by which software that is traditionally run from a desktop PC is run over the internet in virtually the same fashion. All that is required is broadband internet access to the DPS data centre, other than that, users go about their work in exactly the same way. As IT infrastructure and maintenance is carried out off site, flooding and other such disasters do not effect IT systems and provided the building is accessible, hosting allows clients to carry on working as normal.

Hosting ensures that software is kept up to date while the host carries the burden of keeping hardware performance checked and maintained. In addition, the need for IT staff and expertise is removed to the hosting provider. This allows firms to capitalise on not only a wider variety of software, but also more advanced versions of hardware. This is beneficial for firms as they can use the same software as much larger competitors offering high levels of client service without the major upfront costs.

Malcom Dodds commented: “Hosting guarantees a trouble free software system. I no longer have any networking problems and I have not had to call on engineers since I went hosted. This has saved me a considerable amount of money, time, and lowered my blood pressure to acceptable levels!”

He added, “Updates were becoming a problem with crime as the LSC introduced contract changes on a regular basis and I was having to install all these on the computer on my network, but these are now dealt with by DPS.”

“I have always found the support staff at DPS to be excellent since I became a client over 14 years ago. It also makes the system more mobile and I can access my case management system from anywhere and particularly with the advent of digital dictation working away from the office becomes a viable alternative. It is all worth serious consideration.”

Microsoft Windows is the most popular operating system (OS); thus, most web hosting companies cater to sites running on Windows, as expected. However, there is an increasing demand for hosts that can support websites running on other platforms such as Mac OS and Linux, just to name a few. For this article, we will focus on Linux web hosting.

Why do some people choose Linux web hosting? To start with, Linux is an open source OS designed after Unix. It means Linux is free, which is a fact that is easily a factor in some people’s choice of operating system. Aside from being free, Linux is also known to be very stable even in the midst of some heavy-duty multitasking. It’s also known to be flexible, powerful, and portable. The graphical user interface (GUI) looks great, too.

Whatever the reason may be, there’s no denying that more and more people are turning to Linux web hosting. If you’re comfortable with using Linux with Perl programming language, now is the right time to go for Linux web hosting. It has its place in mainstream, so any worries you may have about lack of suitable choices for Linux web hosting should be thrown out the window. There are a lot of affordable packages being marketed by web hosting companies for the Linux user.

Surprisingly, even if Windows is the most popular OS, Linux web hosting has more presence on the internet than Windows web hosting. The reason behind this is Linux’s open source nature. A lot of technological developments in web hosting are also open source. It’s easier for developers and programmers to experiment with different innovations when high fees and licenses are not part of the equation. Thus, Linux web hosting provides you with a lot of flexibility at almost no cost. When technologies update, you can go along with them without worrying about your budget because they are free.

Linux web hosting is also highly standardized because Linux, as an OS, is a standard platform. Thus, you can easily add to your website without too much hassle since everything is streamlined. You’ll appreciate this more as your website steadily and quickly grows. Long-term management with diligent maintenance is one of the most difficult things you need to do as a webmaster; luckily Linux web hosting can help in that aspect.

Take note, though, that there’s a downside to all the good stuff, and it’s up to you if it’s worth looking over when you finally choose Linux web hosting. Since Windows still dominates as the number one OS, Linux web hosting does not have a lot of technical support available for applications and languages that are based on Windows. Sure, you have a wide range of Linux-based applications and languages to choose from, but there are very useful ones that are Windows-based. You either don’t use them at all, or prepare yourself to encounter difficulties when you do.

Weigh your needs and wants before choosing Linux web hosting over Windows web hosting. Both have positive and negative aspects to them, and choosing what works better for your website is something only you can decide.

What you need to know about USPS Software.

There was a time when mail was sorted manually and the pigeon was the courier. Now it sounds like a part of a fairy tale. Nowadays advancement in technology has brought about a sea change in the entire system. The USPS is an acronym for United States Postal Service.

USPS is a government owned agency situated in the United States and is responsible for delivery of mail. USPS is one of the oldest government organizations in the USA and holds a kind of monopoly on many aspects of delivering mail. Through the USPS, citizens can send mail and parcels to almost any part of the world at reasonable prices.

The Intelligent Mail Barcode, popularly known as IMB is a new system introduced by USPS. It is a next generation of barcode technology that can be used for sorting and tracking letters and flats. It combines the capabilities of the Planet Code barcode and the POSTNET barcode into one unique form of barcode.

Many software companies design USPS software or USPS shipping software. They create and provide software solutions for direct mail, marketing, document design and data quality. Let us discuss some of its products they offer.

MaxPresort is one of the most comprehensive and powerful product for United States Postal Service bulk mailings. It is ideally suited for business which have direct marketing campaigns, or else who serve others who mail. This software helps in taking advantage of the huge postage discounts that are offered by the USPS. They can presort mail of different types like letters, NFMs, flats and parcels. This sorting is done in USPS classes -Periodicals, First-Class Mail, Package Services and Standard Mail. Apart from presorting mail, the software also has an optimization routine so that you can further maximize your discounts.

MaxPresort also supports the Intelligent Mail Barcodes. It can be used with the Basic as well as the Full Service Options and includes Intelligent Mail Container Label and the Intelligent Mail Tray Label.

Another product is the IMB Manager. This technology allows users to create an Intelligent Mail barcode for files that are generated by any type of presort or Mail.dat product. It also allows users to manage their exclusive Intelligent Mail Serial Numbers either within a single Mailer ID or else across multiple mails for the same Mailer ID. This is how it works. First, it creates all three kinds of Intelligent Mail Serial Numbers. Then it creates a database which can track the 45-day expiration dates for these Serial Numbers. The interface is intuitive and easy to use.

MaxOG is another product that uses functionality from MaxPrint, a great document creation and printing software. It can produce a wide array of documents and labels with the help of pictures, text, ovals, tables, boxes, lines and fill patterns in various font, color or orientation. By using MaxOG you will be able to create letters as well as name-and-address labels using Intelligent Mail Tray, Intelligent Mail barcodes, Container Labels and also Inkjet files.

Thus you can effectively use these products for direct mail and marketing or document designing.

A Linux file system is a collection of various files and folders, which is stored in a separate disk partition. The entire disk partition is divided into various file system blocks, which are used for storing either the user data or the metadata. The metadata can be referred as the repository that contains the information of the file system.

One such metadata structure is the superblock, which is very essential for the health of the Linux system. A file system cannot be mounted if you are not able to access the superblock. This case arises if the superblock is corrupted that can happen because of various reasons such as virus infections, power outages, file system corruption, human errors, etc. In such cases, you should take appropriate corrective measures to recover the file system. If you are not able to resolve the issue, then you should use a third-party Linux data recovery software to perform data recovery of Linux system.

Consider a scenario wherein you have an ext3-partitioned Linux system. When you try to access the partition, you are not able to do so. An error message is displayed, that is:

“/dev/sda2: Input/output error

mount: /dev/sda2: can’t read superblock”

Cause:

The cause of this error message is that the superblock has corrupted because of the aforementioned reasons.

Resolution:

You can restore the primary superblock from the various backup copies that the Linux system maintains for such situations. To do this, you need to perform the following steps:

Find out superblock location for /dev/sda2

Check and repair the Linux file system using alternate superblock # xyz, where xyz is the location of the alternate superblock.

Mount file system using mount command viz, # mount /dev/sda2 /mnt

Try to browse and access the file system.

However, if you still are unable to address the situation, then you should use a third-party Linux data recovery software to perform Linux recovery. Such tools are read-only in nature and perform Ext3 Recovery without overwriting the original data.

Stellar Phoenix Linux Data Recovery software is a Data Recovery for Linux software that enables you to perform Linux data recovery for various file system volumes. Apart from ext3 recovery, it is capable of performing ext2 recovery and ext4 recovery. In addition, this Linux recovery tool recovers data from various types of hard drives such as SCSI, SATA, EIDE, and IDE. It supports different Linux distributions such as Red Hat, SUSE, Debian, Caldera, Mandrake, Sorcerer, TurboLinux, Slackware, Gentoo, etc. It is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, Server 2003, XP, and Server 2000.
